Our program focuses on technique from an early age to encourage competency and build safety skills in a caring and fun environment. Higher levels aim to develop competitive strokes and skills for those who wish to enter squad programs.
Level One
Introducing school-aged students to swimming and water safety by building confidence with a focus on body position and kicking technique.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to five students
Class location: Indoor Leisure Pool
Skill 1 - Push and glide on front.
Skill 2 - Kick on front with effective technique.
Skill 3 - Torpedo with pop up breathing.
Skill 4 - Push and glide on back.
Skill 5 - Kick on back with effective technique.
Skill 6 - Float on front and roll onto back.
Skill 7 - Propel self through water with paddling and kicking action.
Skill 8 - Jump into deep water, turn to safety and climb out with minimal assistance.
Level Two
Introducing students to freestyle and backstroke and building water confidence and water safety skills.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to five students
Class location: Indoor Leisure Pool
Skill 1 - 10 metres freestyle with effective arms and kick.
Skill 2 - 10 metres backstroke with effective arms and kick.
Skill 3 - 10 metres kicking and rolling from front to back and back to front.
Skill 4 - Paddle and kick with pop up breathing.
Skill 5 - Propel self through water with sculling arm action.
Skill 6 - Dolphin kick.
Skill 7 - Jump into deep water, turn back to safety and climb out.
Level Three
Building freestyle and backstroke skills, introducing students to breaststroke kick and continuing to develop water safety skills.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to five students
Class location: Indoor Leisure Pool
Skill 1 - 10 metres freestyle with breathing.
Skill 2 - 10 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - Effective breaststroke kick on back holding on floatation aid.
Skill 4 - Survival backstroke arm action.
Skill 5 - Streamline starts.
Skill 6 - Treading water.
Skill 7 - Kneeling dive into deep water and swim back to safety.
Level Four
Consolidating freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke technique and continuing to develop water safety skills.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to five students
Class location: Indoor Leisure Pool
Skill 1 - 15 metres freestyle.
Skill 2 - 15 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - 15 metres survival backstroke.
Skill 4 - Effective breaststroke kick with breathing on front holding onto an aid.
Skill 5 - Freestyle with unilateral breathing on both sides.
Skill 6 - Breaststroke arm action.
Skill 7 - Somersault.
Skill 8 - 10 metres dolphin kick
Skill 9 - Crouching dive into deep water.
Level Five
Refining stroke technique and building speed and stamina over a 25 metre distance.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to six students
Class location: Indoor Leisure Pool
Skill 1 - 25 metres freestyle with bilateral breathing.
Skill 2 - 25 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - 25 metres survival backstroke.
Skill 4 - 25 metres breaststroke with correct timing.
Skill 5 - 25 metres swim in the lap pool.
Skill 6 - 12.5 metres dolphin kick.
Skill 7 - Dive entry into deep water.
Level Six
Introducing students to competitive stroke technique with a focus on improving speed and stamina.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to eight students
Class location: Indoor 25m Pool
Skill 1 - 50 metres freestyle.
Skill 2 - 50 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - 50 metres breaststroke.
Skill 4 - 50 metres survival backstroke.
Skill 5 - 15 metres dolphin kick.
Skill 6 - Dive entry.
Level Seven
Preparing students for a squad style session with a focus on competitive stroke technique.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 30 minutes
Class Size: Up to eight students
Class location: Indoor 25m Pool
Skill 1 - 75 metres freestyle.
Skill 2 - 75 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - 75 metres breaststroke.
Skill 4 - 75 metres survival backstroke.
Skill 5 - Swim 150 metres continuously with correct technique.
Skill 6 - 10 metres butterfly.
Skill 7 - Introduce competition starts, turns and finishes.
Level Eight
A squad style session with a focus on building competitive stroke technique, speed and stamina.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 45 minutes
Class Size: Up to ten students
Class location: Indoor 25m Pool
Skill 1 - 100 metres freestyle.
Skill 2 - 100 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - 100 metres breaststroke.
Skill 4 - Swim 25 metres butterfly.
Skill 5 - Swim 300 metres continuously with correct technique.
Skill 6 - Ccompetition starts, turns and finishes.
Level Nine
A squad style session with a focus on refining competitive stroke technique and training methods.
Student age: Full time school age
Class duration: 1 hour
Class Size: Up to ten students
Class location: Indoor 25m Pool
Skill 1 - 200 metres freestyle.
Skill 2 - 200 metres backstroke.
Skill 3 - 200 metres breaststroke.
Skill 4 - 50 metres butterfly.
Skill 5 - Swim 600 metres continuously with correct technique.
Skill 6 - Maintain consistently correct technique for the duration fo the session.
Skill 7 - Maintain competitive starts, turns and finishes for the duration of the session.
